DériF is not a lemmatizer, but a rule-based morphosemantic analyser for French, i.e. it provides both derived and compounds words with their complete morphological analysis. DériF's input must be a POS tagged lemma X. DériF's output is a morphological description of X, including :

  • its set of ancestors (= its 'direct' morphological family)

ex:

intoxication/N : (intoxication/N, intoxiquer/V, toxique/A)

[intoxication, intoxicate, toxic)

  • its definition, according to the meaning of its base and the Word Formation rule relating X and this base:

ex:

hépatique/A => \"Related to the liver\"

  • a set of morphology-predicted lexical semantic annotations

ex:

laver/V [wash] => [ aspect=dynamic, subcat = < NPagent, NPpatient > ]
