University of Maryland HCI Group: FeatureLens

FeatureLens is a free tool for visualizing and exploring patterns in text collections. This tool integrates the results of text-mining algorithms, and can assist in finding frequent words or ngrams, enabling the discovery of fuzzy repetition patterns. In addition, the tool will recommend features based on particular pattern types identified in the text.

cue.language

cue.language is a free library of Java code and resources for basic natural language processing emerging from the development of the Wordle word cloud tool and maintained by Jonathan Feinman of IBM's CUE Research Group. Its functions include tokenization, counting strings, detecting the script alphabet or writing system required to represent the text, guess the text's language and customizeable stop word detection.

Wmatrix

Wmatrix is a free tool for corpus analysis and comparison. It provides a web interface for USAS and CLAWS, in addition to enabling standard corpus linguistic functions such as frequency lists and concordances.

Ngram Statistics Package (NSP)

The Ngram Statistics Package (NSP) is a free suite for identifying word and character ngrams in large corpora developed by Ted Pederson and his team. It also generates frequency data and co-occurrences, and can generate correlations between two files. It has been in continuous development since the 1990s and has been used in developing the SenseCluster and Senseval tools.

SEASR

SEASR provides an environment for developing data flows that ingest data, process it through a series of transformations and analytics, and send the data to a results viewer.

Data for Research (DFR)

After creating a free account, users can submit requests for mining and analyzing JSTOR content. By submitting a query, a user will receive a random sample of 1,000 of JSTOR's 4.6 million documents; more documents can be received by contacting JSTOR directly. Users can choose to receive the following results:
