Voyant Translate Skin (beta)

The translate skin is a custom skin for Voyeur Tools which offers multiple translations of the same document. Target languages for the translations are chosen from a comprehensive list and the Google Translate API is used to provide the resulting texts. These are used to populate the final view which consists of a series of Cirrus tools, one for each translation.

Further translations can be produced for any of the texts by selecting one from the “Next Translation” drop-down. The Cirrus tools can be arranged in two layouts: tile, and circular. They can also be re-sized and moved to produce a custom layout.

This tool integrates the results of text-mining algorithms, and can assist in finding frequent words or ngrams, enabling the discovery of fuzzy repetition patterns. In addition, the tool will recommend features based on particular pattern types identified in the text.

DocuBurst

DocuBurst is a free web-based visualization tool for exploring the contents of a text.  Visitors can upload their own text or view those provided by others. DocuBurst presents an interactive chart called a ‘radial sunburst’ diagram which organizes the nouns extracted from the user-supplied text based on their meaning, and colours them based on frequency, revealing common themes in the text.  The visualization also shows the proper nouns (e.g. character names) in a linked word cloud. The visualization may be zoomed, filtered, or refocused to target types of words of interest (e.g. “animal” words or “feeling” words).  The visualization also provides a comparison tool to contrast word use across two documents.  DocuBurst views can be bookmarked, annotated, shared, and embedded in your own website.
